SHIFT+SPACE Spring 2025 SHIFT+SPACE springs into in the new year with a selection of 11 ground-breaking experimental work-in-progress productions. Described as “gold-dust for radical art & theatre creators” by programmed artists, SHIFT+SPACE is a unique take on work-in-progress programming, which offers artists an opportunity to present their performance on a Friday and incorporate audience feedback over a 24 hour period before performing again on Saturday evening. We appropriately start our stellar program with Standing Ovation (Friday 14th and Saturday 15th February) by rising star of London’s drag scene, X.O., with character Daryl, aka some guy™, who lays out the epic highs and lows of being a wheelchair user. You Look Okay To Me (21st and 22nd February) by Anna van Miert is a theatrical autopsy of one woman’s struggle with chronic pain, medical neglect and unending ill health. Next, we step into the unpredictable world of ‘Trainwreck’ (28th February and 1st March), a chaotic, immersive satire on AI-driven content in modern entertainment. Not Accessible (8th and 9th March) by Karina Aviva Benjamin is an interactive performance putting you through a rigorous testing procedure as you experience what it means to be set up to fail. Look (Friday 14th and Saturday 15th March) by Yifei Ma flips the script on how Asian women’s bodies are seen, dissected, and consumed in media in an intimate, subversive, and visually arresting half an hour performance piece. This Play is a Dildo (21st March and 22nd March) is an immersive, participatory theater-film hybrid inspired by the radical 1970s porn industry and a lost adult film by non-binary icon B Faldmo, a pioneer of countersexual cinema. Haylin delivers their masterclass PsyTreedelic Xperience (28th and 29th March) and invites you to step into the boundless experience of being trees with an evening of mind-blowing philosophy, practical exercises, and transformative experiences to connect you with our community and land! We open April with an explosive hyperpop play by Arianna Muñoz, #EDIT (Friday 4th and Saturday 5th April) is a playful, chronically online exploration of the intersections of race, sexuality, and fandom - as well as the reality of life as an artist offline. 88 mètres/seconde present to you Le Grand Soir (11th and 12th April); a high-energy ode to fathers, trauma, Communism, and queerness, blending storytelling, physical theatre, and folkloric dance. BOY Theatre earnestly attempt to demystify finance in CAMPitalism: Three Gays Try To Fix The Economy (18th and 19th April) through the medium of ‘TedX talk meets drag brunch meets the Lehman Trilogy’. To round off another exciting SHIFT+SPACE season, 4:34 by Khai Ramli (25th and 26th April) blends humour and honest conversations, taking a look at what it means to be a Muslim woman today and the challenges they face. SHIFT offers artists an invaluable opportunity to take risks, play and create at Theatre Deli - be an important step on their artistic journey by joining us this season! SHIFT+SPACE is supported by Philip Carne and the Garrick Charitable Trust. Applications for our summer season of SHIFT+SPACE open soon!
